Kuppet chairman and secretary general
Classroom teachers have suffered a lot from the 2017-2021 CBA which favoured administrators leaving them with nothing being added to their salaries. This is why both KNUT and KUPPET are pilling up pressure on the commission to review the 2021-2025 non monitary CBA to atleast cater for the suffering classroom teachers.
Remember recently treasury effected the 7.5 % pension contributions for all civil servants including teachers, this shrank the teachers payslip further leaving them with nothing.
In the recent past, there has been many suicide cases amoung the classroom teachers most probably occasioned by hard economic times as inflation is on the rise and the payslip remains the same for so long without any salary increment, classroom teachers just like other civil servants have many dependants who needs to be assisted from the same salary which does not change.
Stagnation in the same job group for decades is another reason why the unions are not at ease with the commission, classroom teachers stagnate for so long in the same job group without moving this has really demotivated the teachers leading to poor service delivery.
Knut secretary general Mr Oyuu passionately appealed to the commission to review the CBA to include the monitary aspect to cushion the teachers against inflation which has hit our country leaving everybody exposed to much economic suffering.
KUPPET secretary general and his entourage are meeting the TSC for salary talks in Naivasha and the writing is on the wall that the commission has review the 2021-2025 CBA to include the monitary aspect to the CBA otherwise the major issue to be discussed is monitary aspect of the CBA.
The unions are under pressure from the teachers owing to the fact that their manifesto during election centred around negotiating for better remuneration for the teachers, with another elections just around the corner the unions have to deliver or else they will be swept from office on account of non delivery.
