As preparations for the transfer of power proceed, President-elect William Ruto has named Justin Muturi, Speaker of the National Assembly, Veronica Maina, Secretary General of the UDA, and Gladys Boss Shollei, Woman Representative-elect of Uasin Gishu, to the Transition committee.

As the electoral commission raced against time to finish tallying results after Tuesday’s election, the transition committee headed by Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua declared last week that it is prepared to smooth the handover process, including protection for the President-elect.
The committee has already seen to it that security was provided for the president-elect and his running mate by the Inspector-General of the National Police Service while they awaited the results of the August 9 election.
Prior to the oathtaking,the committee is anticipated to organize the briefing of the President-elect by pertinent public officials.
Both 2013 transition and President Kenyatta’s 2017 reelection were overseen by the transition committee.
Francis Kimemia, now retiring Nyandarua’s predecessor as secretary to the cabinet, presided over the committee in 2013
The group includes Chief of Defense Forces General Robert Kibochi, Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and Director of the National Intelligence Service Philip Kameru
