Ten newly elected Kisii County legislators have decided to back Kisii Governor Simba Arati in his efforts to reform the autonomous entity.
The MPs pledged to put aside their disagreements for the benefit of the county while speaking at Gusii Stadium immediately after Governor Arati received the reins of power from his predecessor James Ongwae.
With the exception of Innocent Obiri, a Bobasi MP who is now abroad, all elected MPs were present for Arati’s inauguration.
The governor was assured of Zaheer Jhanda’s steadfast support by the Nyaribari Chache MP.
Despite the fact that we have different political views, I want to reassure you that we will collaborate. I skipped other events in Nairobi to attend this one instead, the UDA MP explained.
William Ruto, the incoming president, is likewise well-connected to Jhanda.
Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugirango requested Arati to cooperate with the ruling party.
“Work with the current administration, regardless of the Supreme Court’s decision. Work with him if the Supreme Court decides that Ruto was legitimately elected,” he stated to boos from the audience.
He claimed that since Arati was resoundingly elected, the people have high hopes and expectations of him.
“If you deliver, there won’t be any rivals in 2027. But rest confident that I will confront you, the UDA MP said.
Both Senator Richard Onyonka and Woman Representative Dorice Aburi, who served on Arati’s campaign team, have sworn not to let the Kisii people down.
Daniel Manduku, a Masaba MP, has endorsed Arati for the position of Kisii community spokesperson.
“Starting now, you will represent our political position. You can rely on our support as lawmakers, the ODM MP stated.
Japhet Nyakundi and Charles Onchoke, representatives for Kitutu Chache North and Bonchari, respectively, echoed his views.
As duly elected officials, we ought to cooperate to enhance the quality of life for the populace and advance the county.
Obadiah Barongo of Bomachoge Borabu said: “First and foremost, I want to thank Governor Ongwae for the seamless handover ceremony. You have our backing and will continue to do so.
Anthony Kibagendi of Kitutu Chache South praised Ongwae for establishing the county governance systems during the past ten years.
