Selection of junior secondary schools for grade 6 under CBC began earnestly in 15th August 2022 and will end on 30th August at midnight.parents and Grade 6 children through the guidence of the heads of instructions should ensure the exercise is carried out as per the given instructions.
The CS education professor magoha who was accompanied by KNEC CEO David Njengere asked the parents to consider choosing junior secondary schools in their nearest place of stay because these kids will be joining high school when they are pretty young.
KNEC CEO David Njengere asked the parents to long into the ministry of education portal under the grade 6 and follow the instructions to ensure all categories of schools are chosen for the form to be complete.He said selection of students will be done like in standard 8 as it will be based on CBA tests which began at grade 4,5 and 6 and the final National test to be administered December this year.
During selection students will be required to select two national schools of their choice,two regional schools, four county schools,two private schools of their choice and 4 sub-county schools.The selection Will be purely based on merit and that parents need not to worry provided they do select school for their children according to their preference.
In this selection of junior secondary schools under CBC, over 1.2million will be competing for the vacancies in junior secondary schools which have been constructed by the ministry of education and the private schools.A crisis is looming given that the staffing situation in our schools is teething issue the ministry of education in conjunction with the TSC has not been resolved.
Children who will select private schools however,will meet the fee cost charged by those schools as the government will not cater for those costs,parents are therefore, hereby reminded that that’s their personal choice if they can afford.
