The ministry of education will release a circular on Wednesday giving details on how students will be placed in junior secondary schools under CBC.This comes as reliever to many parents and pupils of grade six who are anxious to know the kind of schools they will join next year.
There are however, obvious factors that will influence the type of junior secondary schools the students will join these include.
One,the type of school the learner will chooses next month, this will greatly influence the placement as it will be electronic and very competitive.
Two the number of vacancies each junior secondary school will declare, the will limit many students from joining the few schools which traditionally remain to be the dream of many learners like Kenya high, alliance, starehe etc.
Thirdly is the type of strand that the school will be offering,CBC has categorised schools according to the kind of discipline they are going to offer like arts, science, physical, all these factors will come into play during the placement.
The CS education on Saturday urged the parents to embrace placing their children in day schools as CBC is geared towards ending the much congested boarding schools,he challenged the parents to consider being close to their children because they will be joining high school when they are pretty young.
Another consideration will be the cumulative skill acquisition scores that have over time uploaded into the knec portal for the CBC learners from grade 4,5 and 6 plus the 40% summative test to be administered in November this will greatly decide where the learner will be placed in junior secondary school.
KNEC gave out guidelines on how the learners were assessed under the CBC which was used to measure the level of acquisition of skills at grades 4,5 and 6 which has already been uploaded into the knec portal and it accounts up to 60%of the total score.
