In Eldoret, police have detained the club manager who is suspected of killing Ida Odinga’s bodyguard in Kisumu.
Ayub Gitonga, the head of the Uasin Gishu Police, confirmed the arrest and said that Collins Oulo Okundi, the suspect, would be charged with murder tomorrow.
I can affirm that our officers have detained the shooter in the Kisumu shooting, Mr. Gitonga stated.
Mr. Okundi, who has been missing since Friday, was employed at Kisumu’s Signature Level 4, a well-liked entertainment venue.
The suspect was found in possession of a Jericho pistol, one magazine, and seven rounds of ammunition, according to a report issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Eldoret West Sub County.
At Marilyn Marion Ouma’s home, Mr. Okundi is accused of killing corporal Barrack Oduor Onyango with a shot to the head.
At around 3.30 a.m., Mr. Onyango, a friend named Mr. Donar Kajwang, and Ms. Ouma returned to her home close to Uzima University.
When they arrived to the estate, Mr. Okundi showed up, and a fight broke out between Marylyn, Kajwang, and Mr. Onyango, according to a statement made by the woman at the center of the story.
Mr. Okundi apparently jumped on Mrs. Odinga’s bodyguard during this process and disarmed him. He then fired the policeman twice, killing him instantly in the head and leg.
Mr. Kajwang was shot in the leg during the subsequent altercation and was taken to Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu, where he is said to be in stable condition. The gun is then alleged to have been taken off by the suspect.
