It’s the beginning of the second term for 2022 academic year and the fear of fires infernos have started it has become a trend over the years that when it’s approaching second term principals and all stakeholders in schools spend sleepless nights trying to keep vigil incase fire enemy strikes.
On Saturday Evening fire razed down one the dorms hosting about 100 boys at Nyakongo boys high school, according to the eye witnesses the fire started when the boys were in their classes for the evening preps.
According to the school administration the cause of the fire has not been established as the police have swung into action to carry out investigation to the cause of the fire,all the properties belonging to the boys were consumed by the fire leaving the boys in dire need of assistance.
During the incidence no student was hurt and all the boys are okay.Area MP Mr.Shadrack Mose and the woman representative both of kitu masaba constituency and Nyamira county respectively were among the politicians who visited the school and pledged support for the affected students and to repair the damaged form.
Nyakongo high school was among the top performer school in the recently released Kcse 2021 emerging at position 6 in Nyamira county with a mean of 8 plus and having transitioned to the university 99 percent of its candidates,this incidence is a big setback to the school which has already set a reading culture and whose students are focused to excel in their academic work.
Currently the school has a population of about 800 boys which is a big number.The school principals said he will work around the clock to ensure that the boys are counselled and guided to overcome the challenges and focus on their studies.
Area chief emphasized on the need for school administration to ensure their is enough security in the school and pledged support incase of any security hitch on the school.
