St. Pauls Gekano stole the show when Nyamira County secondary schools successfully wrapped up their baseball contests.
Gekano dominated their host and longtime rival in both rugby and handball during the Nyamira County Second Term Ball Games competition that was held at Nyambaria National School to qualify for the Lake Region Secondary Schools games to be held at Asumbi TTC in Homabay County.
Ekenyoro Secondary School, which excelled in both the boys’ and girls’ volleyball and basketball games, respectively, to gain a ticket to the regional competitions, is one of the other schools that performed admirably during the competition.
In a competitive match, the boys’ basketball team from Ekenyoro Secondary School defeated St. Kizito Nyansiongo Boys School 60–43. The team had earlier destroyed Machuririati Secondary School 50-16 before destroying St. Paul’s Omonayo 40-17.
St. Teresa Gekano Girls School was defeated in volleyball by Ekenyoro Secondary School 14-8 in the girls’ division.
Mr. Albert Ombiro, the chief principal of Gekano Boys High School, lauded the teams’ esprit de corps during the competition and thanked the game instructors for their hard effort.
He then expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part and offered his congratulations to the winners.
Because the school had already put in place appropriate methods, Mr. Ombiro expressed confidence in the school’s ability to perform exceptionally in both academics and extracurricular activities.
In order to provide a supportive environment for both our lads and their trainers, for example, we have renovated all of our fields, he stated. Be
